FHU Volleyball Soars To 3-0 Win Over Eagles

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team evened up their conference record at five games apiece Saturday, as they took down Williams Baptist College in straight sets on the road at Walnut Ridge, Ark. (25-17, 25-14, 25-22)

Freshman Claire Walker paced the Lady Lion attack and compiled 12 kills in the match while Alex Britt followed close behind with eight kills of her own. Lindsey Gordon distributed the ball nicely for FHU and dished out 30 assists while Reilly Fulton countered the Eagle attack well with 15 defensive digs.

The Lady Lions (9-11, 5-5 AMC) out-hit Williams Baptist College (9-23, 2-8 AMC) 40-27 in the match, as FHU hit .219 compared to the Eagles who hit just .096 in the match.

The Lady Lions also picked up much needed points on the service line, as they compiled eight service aces. Alex Britt led the way with three service aces while Bojana Antunovic and Claire Walker contributed two aces apiece in the win.

Audra Nailing led Williams Baptist on the attack with nine kills while Kayla Winfrey dished out 14 assists in the loss. Makenzie Moore led the Eagles on the defensive end with 14 digs.

With the win, the Lady Lions move to 9-11 on the season and even up their conference record at 5-5. Williams Bapist falls to 9-23 on the season and 2-8 in AMC play with the loss.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions are back in action Friday, November 3rd, as they make the trip to St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Match time is slated for 7:00 PM in St. Louis, Mo. The Lady Lions conclude the regular season on Saturday, November 4th, as they travel to Lindenwood University-Belleville for a 1:00 PM match-up in Belleville, Ill.
