Lions Drop Hard Fought Battle To Lyon College 69-68

HENDERSON, Tenn. -The Freed-Hardeman Lion basketball team battled the entire way, but in the end came up just short, as they suffered a 69-68 loss to conference foe Lyon College Thursday evening at the Brewer Sports Center.

The loss for FHU marked the first time the Scots have defeated the Lions on the road since the 2006 season, and just the second time in program history.

Despite the loss, the Lions (4-9, 1-5 AMC) received solid contribution from Ehab Eltayeb, who led all scorers in the game with 19 points after going 6-for-8 from the field and 7-for-8 from the charity stripe.

Marcus Baldwin continued his impressive start to the 2017-18 season and fired in 17 points and dished out three assists. James Davis and Kortland Martin also reached double figures for the Lions, as Davis ended the night with 12 points while Martin chipped in 11 points in the loss.

The Lions shot 45 percent from the field and 37 percent from behind the arc compared to Lyon College (5-7, 3-2 AMC) who shot 47 percent from the field and 42 percent from three-point range in the win.

Eric Moses led the Scots on the attack with 18 points after going 7-for-10 from the field and a perfect 2-for-2 from behind the arc. Four other Scots players reached double digits in the win including Emir Sabic (13 points), Tyler Robinson (11 points), Justas Narusas (10 points) and Spencer Brown (10 points).

With the loss, the Lions fall to 4-9 on the season and 1-5 in conference play. Lyon College improves to 5-7 on the season and 3-2 in AMC play with the win.

UP NEXT: The Lions are back in action Saturday, December 30th, as they host Central Baptist College for a 3:00 PM match-up at the Brewer Sports Center.
