HENDERSON, Tenn. - Marcus Baldwin surpassed 30 points for the third time this season, but it wasn't enough as the Freed-Hardeman Lion basketball team suffered their sixth loss of the season to Campbellsville University Thursday evening at the Brewer Sports Center.

Despite the loss, the Lions (2-6) continued to receive solid production from their Senior leader Baldwin, who led all scorers in the game with 31 points after going 13-for-17 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc. Jahmeel Watts also reached double digits for the Lions and chipped in 11 points with a 4-for-6 shooting night from the field. Simon Fransis led the Lions on the glass with seven rebounds in the loss.

Andrew Smith led Campbellsville (11-1) on the offensive end with 27 points and eight rebounds after shooting an impressive 11-for-14 from the field and 4-for-5 from behind the arc. Hagen Tyler followed close behind with 17 points while Tim Coleman rounded out the scoring for the Tigers with nine points.

The Lions shot 47 percent from the field in the game compared to Campbellsville, who shot 46 percent from the field and 42 percent from behind the arc. FHU led Campbellsville on the glass, as they out-rebounded the Tigers 40-31 in the match-up.

The Tigers found their stride early, as they controlled the offensive possession for a majority of the first half and reached their largest lead of the frame at the 38-25 mark with 4:10 remaining. However, the Lions would keep things from getting out of hand, as they out-shot the Tigers 10-4 in the final four minutes to pull within seven points at the 42-35 mark entering the break.

The momentum continued for the Tigers in the second stanza, but the Lions would keep them within striking distance the entire way. Despite trailing by as many as 11 at the 72-61 mark with 5:40 remaining in regulation, the Lions turned things around and out-shot the Tigers 15-7 over the next four minutes to pull within three points at the 79-76 mark. However, the comeback was short lived, as the Tigers finished the game on a 5-0 run to secure the 84-76 win.

With the loss, the Lions fall to 2-6 on the season. Campbellsville University improves to 11-1 on the season with the win.

UP NEXT: The Lions are back in action Saturday, December 9th, as they host in-state foe Bethel University. The Lady Lions get things started first at 2:00 PM followed by the men's game at 4:00 PM at the Brewer Sports Center.
