Lady Lions Take Down Williams Baptist In Straight Sets

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team picked up their 12th win of the season Saturday afternoon, as they took down Williams Baptist University in straight sets at the Brewer Sports Center. (25-19, 25-17, 25-16)

Bojana Antunovic paced the Lady Lion attack and compiled 13 kills in the match while Claire Walker followed close behind with 10 kills of her own. Emma Self distributed the ball nicely for FHU and dished out 32 assists while Reilly Fulton countered the Eagle attack well with 14 defensive digs.

The Lady Lions (12-7, 6-4 AMC) out-hit Williams Baptist University (7-23, 3-7 AMC) 40-26 in the match, as FHU hit .308 compared to the Eagles who hit just .085 in the match.

The Lady Lions also picked up much needed points on the service line, as they compiled seven service aces. Bojana Antunovic and Emma Self led the way with two service aces apiece to account for four of FHU's seven service aces in the match.

Audra Nailing led Williams Baptist on the attack with 15 kills while McKenzie Hopkins dished out 13 assists in the loss. Shelby Henson led the Eagles on the defensive end with 15 digs.

With the win, the Lady Lions move to 12-7 on the season and 6-4 in conference play. Williams Bapist University falls to 7-23 on the season and 3-7 in AMC play with the loss.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions are back in action Tuesday, October 30th, as they take on in-state foe Bethel University for a 7:00 PM match-up in McKenzie, Tenn.
