NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Men's Basketball team fell behind early Monday evening, but finished strong, as they picked up a 70-63 victory over Fisk University on the road in Nashville, Tenn.
Bryan MItchell led the way for Freed-Hardeman and fired in 22 points after shooting 9-for-19 from the field and 2-for-6 from behind the arc. The 22-point performance from Mitchell marked the second time this season he has reached the 20-point threshold.
Juwan Hampton followed close behind and recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while John Musselwhite rounded out the Lions attack with 10 points.
The Lions (2-3) shot 42 percent from the field and 27 percent from three-point range compared to Fisk University (1-5), who shot 35 percent from the field and 30 percent from behind the arc.
The Lions fell behind early in the match-up, as the Bulldogs found success from behind the arc, shooting 40 percent from three-point range in the first half to take a 39-30 lead entering the break.
However, the Lions did not let the early deficit get to them, as they out-shot Fisk University 40-24 in the second half, which included clutch free throws down the stretch, to take a 70-63 victory.
With the win, the Lions move to 2-3 on the season. Fisk University falls to 1-5 on the season with the loss.
UP NEXT: The Lions are back in action Tuesday, November 27th, as they host Central Baptist College for a 7:30 PM conference match-up at the Brewer Sports Center.
