TOUGALOO, Miss. - The Freed-Hardeman Men's Basketball team put together a solid first half Monday evening on the road at Tougaloo College, but could not hold on in the second half, as they suffered an 82-68 loss in Tougaloo, Miss.
Despite the loss, Bryan Mitchell continued to find success on the attack, as he recorded his first double-double of the season with 31 points and 10 rebounds. Mitchell was the only player to reach double digits for the Lions (2-6), as he shot an impressive 4-for-8 from behind the arc. Francis Agbata rounded out the scoring for FHU, as he chipped in seven points and pulled down nine rebounds in the loss.
The Lions held their own in the first half, as they held a 39-38 lead entering the break after shooting an impressive 46 percent from the field and 45 percent from behind the arc in the opening stanza.
However, despite keeping things close in the first half, the Lions struggled to stop the offensive attack of the Bulldogs in the second half, which included a 55 percent shooting performance from the field and 50 percent outburst from behind the arc.
Four players reached double figures for Tougaloo College, led by D'Michael Stribling, who fired in 18 points. Tonzell Handy followed close behind with 16 points while Stanley Williams chipped in 13 points. Kourey Davis rounded out the offensive attack for the Bulldogs with 10 points.
With the loss, the Lions fall to 2-6. Tougaloo College improves to 9-2 on the season with the win.
