BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. - Seniors Sandrea Sylman and Carrie Hatchel combined for over half of FHU's points Saturday afternoon, as the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion Basketball team picked up a convincing 80-41 victory over Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Miss.
Sylman led the way for Freed-Hardeman (10-0), as she fired in 25 points after shooting an impressive 11-for-20 from the field. Saturday's match-up marked the sixth time this season Sylman has reached the 20-point threshold. Hatchel followed close behind with 21 points of her own while Haylee Croom recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Annie Sparks paced the Toppers (1-6), as she put up 13 points in the match-up while shooting 4-for-9 from the field. Errors plagued Blue Mountain the entire night, as FHU forced an impressive 23 turnovers and snagged 12 steals, led by Sylman, who recorded six steals in the win.
The Lady Lions kept a comfortable lead for a majority of the game, as they held a 36-17 lead entering the break. Sylman led FHU in first half scoring with 14 points while Croom cleaned the glass with seven rebounds.
The Lady Lions continued to roll in the second half, as they out-shot the Toppers 23-7 in the fourth quarter to reach their largest lead of the game to end regulation with the 80-41 victory.
With the win, the Lady Lions move to 10-0 on the season. Blue Mountain College falls to 1-6 on the season with the loss.
