HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion basketball team trailed by as many as 20 points in the first half Saturday afternoon and struggled to recover, as the Mustangs of Central Baptist College handed the Lions a 94-83 loss on the road in Conway, Ark.
Despite the loss, the Lions (9-17, 6-12 AMC) received solid contribution from Senior leader Marcus Baldwin, who led FHU on the attack with 22 points after going 9-for-13 from the field and 4-for-7 from behind the arc. Freshman Kortland Martin followed close behind with 14 points and three assists while Ehab Eltayeb rounded out the FHU attack with 13 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
Victor Dukes led Central Baptist (17-5, 13-4 AMC) on the offensive end with 25 points after shooting a 50 percent clip from the field on 9-for-18 shooting. Da'Jon Streeter followed close behind with 22 points while Ashford Golden chipped in 18 points. Percell Washington rounded out the Mustang attack with 14 points and 14 rebounds after going 7-for-14 from the field.
The Lions shot 46 percent from the field and 42 percent from behind the arc in the game compared to Central Baptist College, who shot 47 percent from the field and 32 percent from behind the arc. The Mustangs won the battle on the glass in the match-up, as they out-rebounded the Lions 45-39, led by Percell Washington, who pulled down 14 rebounds.
With the loss, the Lions fall to 9-17 on the season and 6-12 in conference play. Central Baptist College improves to 17-5 on the season and 13-4 in AMC play with the win.
