MARIETTA, Ga. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion Volleyball team continued to roll Saturday morning in the Life University Running Eagle Classic, as they picked up their second straight victory with a 3-1 win over Brenau University in Marietta, Ga. (25-13, 23-25, 25-15, 25-11)

"Our team played very well today," said Todd Humphry, head coach for the Lady Lion Volleyball team. "They seemed to feel a lot more comfortable as a group on the floor today. With five new faces on the floor it is definitely a different look and feel. I am really proud of the way our girls responded today. Our defense and blocking was much better compared to Friday's matches."

Shea Dean continued her solid play on the front line, as she ended the match with a career-high 17 kills to give FHU all the momentum early on. Claire Walker followed close behind with 14 kills of her own while Bojana Antunovic also reached double digits with 11 kills.

Emma Self distributed the ball well for the Lady Lions, as she dished out 41 of FHU's 45 assists in the match while Reilly Fulton countered the Brenau attack well with 13 defensive digs.

The Lady Lions (2-1) out-hit Brenau University (1-6) 51-32 in the match to go along with a .350 hitting percentage. The Golden Tigers hit just .078 in the match, as they tallied a staggering 24 attack errors in the loss.

Both teams stayed within striking distance to begin the first set, as the Lady Lions held a slight advantage at the 15-13 mark midway through the opening stanza. However, from there the Lady Lions turned it on, as they rattled off ten unanswered points to take the opening set 25-13.

The Golden Tigers; however, would not go down without a fight, as they clawed their way back to a second set victory, which went down to the wire. Brenau used a 3-0 run in the set to gain some separation at the 19-14 mark, where they would not relinquish their lead on their way to a 25-23 set win.

However, despite letting Brenau find their way back in the match, the Lady Lions shut the door just as fast, as they took the next two sets 25-15 and 25-11 to seal their second victory of the season.

With the win, the Lady Lions improve to 2-1 on the season. Brenau University falls to 1-6 on the season with the loss.
