HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion Volleyball team made it look easy Thursday evening, as they picked up a convincing 3-0 victory over NCAA Division 2 Lane College at the Brewer Sports Center.
Claire Walker and Bojana Antunovic continued to dominate on the front line, as Walker pounded out 14 kills in the match while Antunovic followed close behind with 10 kills. Emma Self continued her strong play for the Lady Lions, as she dished out 23 assists while Reilly Fulton compiled six defensive digs in the win.
The Lady Lions were forced to overcome a large deficit near the end of the first set, as they trailed 20-14 before putting together a 7-0 run to take a 21-20 lead. From there, the Lady Lions finished things off to take a 25-21 first set win. Claire Walker led FHU on the attack in the first set with six kills.
The second set remained tight in the early going, as both teams exchanged points to stay knotted up at six apiece. However, FHU gained some separation later in the set, as they put together an 11-3 run to take a commanding 17-9 lead. From there, the Lady Lions never looked back, as they took the second set comfortably with a 25-11 final.
The Lady Lions kept things rolling in the third set, as they jumped out to an early lead at the 12-3 mark. The momentum continued the remainder of the way, as FHU crusied to their fourth win of the season with a 25-18 third set final for the match.
With the win, the Lady Lions move to 4-2 on the season. Lane College falls to 0-2 on the season with the loss.
