HENDERSON – After an extra 15 minutes of play, the Pirates from Park University (8-7, 6-3 AMC) defeated the Lions (3-14, 1-8 AMC) 82-80 on a game-winning tip in from Park's Allen Hyatt at the buzzer.

Freed-Hardeman led late in the second half, but Hyatt tied the game with around 16 seconds remaining at 59 apiece to send the game to the first overtime.

Both squads struggled to score the ball in the first five minutes of extra time and the game went into a second overtime tied at 64 after neither team was able to get a bucket in the final minute of the period.

The Lions led for the entire second overtime period, but the Pirates were able to pull down an offensive rebound after a missed free throw and call a timeout with under 10 seconds remaining.

Park got the ball in on a cross-court pass from Deionte Wilson to Blue Johnson, and Johnson was able to knock down the game-tying 3-pointer to send the game to a third overtime.

Freed led by as many as three points in the final overtime period, but the Pirates were able to tie it up late again with under a minute to go.

Brandon Townsell took a 3-pointer with time running out that missed short, but Hyatt had position and was able to tip the ball in as the buzzer sounded to earn the win for his Pirates.

Francis Agbata led all scorers with 19 points. He added 10 rebounds to secure his double-double.

Kortland Martin followed with 18 points and came away with eight assists.

John Musselwhite finished the contest with 14 points, and Jalen Thompson tallied 12 to close out the double-digit scorers for the Lions.

Freed-Hardeman will have a week off before hosting American Midwest Conference rival Lindenwood University-Belleville next Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
