HANNIBAL, Mo. – The Lions (3-18, 1-12 AMC) nearly came back from a halftime deficit, but came up short on the road against Hannibal-LaGrange (11-8, 9-5 AMC) 68-64 on Thursday.
The Lions led by as many as six points in the first half, but the Trojans went on a 10-0 run to go up four just over halfway through the first period.
The home squad would hold onto the lead for the remainder of the half and take a six-point lead into the break. They would keep that lead until the Lions regained it three minutes into the second half.
Freed-Hardeman would again take the largest lead of the half, going up by seven with 12:29 to go.
They would lead by one with just over two minutes left, but the Trojans would take the lead by one and go on to knock down their free throws to hold on for the win.
Kortland Martin had a game-high 24 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field, 4-of-5 from behind the arc.
John Musselwhite followed with 15 points, and Silas Clark rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points.
The Lions will take on Lindenwood University-Belleville in a makeup game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
