HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lions soccer team (4-6-1, 1-4-1 AMC) earned its first conference win in convincing fashion, with a 4-2 win over Harris-Stowe (4-8, 2-5 AMC) on Tuesday night.
The visitors got the upper hand early when they scored in the 21st minute, but the equalizer came quick when Mauricio Jose Gonzalez sent a great ball down the left side to Daniel Peinado. Harris-Stowe's keeper, Nicholas Morales, came off his line, and Peinado made a great turn and an even better finish to level the game.
It was all Lions from that point on, with Kenneth Ramirez doubling their lead off the assist by Jack O'Riordan in the 38th minute. They would add one more in the 44th minute when Gabriel Carvahlo scored his fourth goal of the year. It was assisted by Ramirez.
Ramirez would add his second goal of the game off a corner kick by Peinado in the 67th minute. The Hornets would add one more score in the 75th minute, but it would be too little, too late as the Lions were able to hold on.
The Lions will continue their home stand on Saturday when they face off against Lindenwood University-Belleville. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
