HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lady Lions (10-7, 2-1 AMC) fell 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-20) in a hard-fought matchup with future Mid-South Conference foe Martin Methodist (10-5, 4-0 SSAC) in the first of three straight home games on Tuesday night.

While the Redhawks went home with the sweep, all three sets were tightly contested and came down to the wire.

The visitors held the largest lead in the entire contest when they led 24-18 in the third set, but both teams would hold a lead by a slim margin throughout the game. In that third set, the Lady Lions were able to battle back to make it a 24-20 game after Kacey Donegan got back-to-back kills on match point for the Redhawks.

The visitors would go on to get the final point on a kill by Kara Nelms, her ninth, and go home with the win.

Claire Walker led the way for the Lady Lions with 16 kills. Donegan added to her conference-leading total with 11 kills, 217 in total on the year. Shea Dean followed her with seven in the contest.

Emma Self had a strong night with 33 assists, and Reilly Fulton continued to play well on the defensive side of the ball with 14 digs.

The Lady Lions will take on AMC rival Lyon College in the second of three home games on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a matchup with Central Baptist on Saturday afternoon at 1.
