HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Freed-Hardeman University volleyball team (12-7, 4-1 AMC) defeated Central Baptist College (6-11, 1-5 AMC) in four sets (25-19, 25-21, 19-25, 25-12) on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Lions would start out the match strong as they took the first two sets behind strong offensive performances from Kacey Donegan and Claire Walker. The Mustangs would respond in the third set and win 25-19 to extend the game, but the hosts would regroup in the fourth set and make a statement to finish off the Mustangs 25-12.
The Lady Lions dwelled off of another outstanding offensive performance to win the match. Walker led the way with 23 kills, followed by Donnegan with 20. She added 13 digs for a double-double on the day. and Shea Dean was strong offensivley with 12 kills, and Emma Self had a career-high 53 assists for the Lady Lions. Reilly Fulton anchored the defense again with 15 digs, and Katie Collier had five blocks.
The Lady Lions will be back in action on Tuesday as they take on Lane College in Jackson at 6 p.m. before opening another two-game homestand next Friday against No. 9 Columbia College at 7 p.m. and next Saturday against Stephens College at 1 p.m
