HENDERSON, Tenn. – Kortland Martin hit a clutch 3-pointer with about 17 seconds left in overtime to help lead the Lions (7-21, 5-15 AMC) to their fourth win in their last five games 85-80 over St. Louis College of Pharmacy (6-21, 5-15 AMC) on Thursday night.
Neither team could really do anything to pull away throughout the game, but the Lions were able to take a three-point lead into the halftime break despite shooting 37 percent from the field, compared to 44 percent by the Eutectics.
Francis Agbata was in control for the vast majority of the game, especially in the low and high post, and the freshman was able to come away with a double-double, scoring a team-high 24 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.
The game was tied at 80 a piece with under 30 seconds to go in overtime, and Martin was able to knock down one of his two 3-pointers off a ball screen to take the lead late, giving him 20 points in the contest.
After the visitors were unable to score at the other end, Agbata pulled down his 12th rebound and was able to put the game out of reach after knocking down two shots from the charity stripe.
Jalen Thompson was able to score 16 points before fouling out late, and John Musselwhite just missed a double-double, grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds and scoring nine points.
The Lions will celebrate senior day on Saturday, honoring Thompson and Shamir Rolle, before taking on No. 3 Missouri Baptist at 3 p.m.
