COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 2 Lady Lions (28-2, 22-2 AMC) wont the American Midwest Conference regular season and clinched the top seed in next week's conference tournament after defeating Stephens College (4-26, 2-22 AMC) 83-45 on Saturday afternoon in the season finale.
It was just a four-point game after the first period, with the Lady Lions on top 13-9, but the visitors went on a tear in the second and third quarters, dismantling the Stars 52-18 in the two periods combined.
It was another dominating performance for Haylee Croom – the reigning AMC and NAIA Player of the Week – who had 30 points and 14 rebounds through just 28 minutes of play, her 18th double-double on the year.
Carrie Hatchel was able to score 13 points in the game, followed by Jamie Crum, who had 11 off the bench.
It was a strong defensive effort, forcing the Stars to commit 24 turnovers and only shooting 28 percent from the field.
The Lady Lions will host throughout the AMC Tournament, with game one coming on Wednesday against the No. 8 seed Harris-Stowe at 7 p.m.
