CONWAY, Ark. – After a 25-point outing from Kortland Martin, the Lions basketball team (5-20, 4-14 AMC) defeated Central Baptist University (16-7, 9-7 AMC) 62-58 on Thursday night.

It was all Lions in the first half, knocking down five of their seven 3-point attempts, as well as shooting 51.7 percent from the field as a whole. That led to a 36-29 lead heading into the halftime break.

After going up by as many as 12 in the second half, the Mustangs started to slowly cut into the Lions lead as time started to get away from them.

But the visitors were able to knock down their free throws late to hold on to the four-point victory.

Ben Eke was the only other double-digit scorer for the Lions, following Martin's 25 with 12 of his own. He added eight rebounds to his tally.

Martin shot just shy of 50 percent from the field and knocked down five 3-pointers.

The Lions will head to Batesville to take on Lyon College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
