MARIETTA, Ga. – The Freed-Hardeman University volleyball team (4-0) competed in day one of the Life University Tournament, adding two wins to their season total.
The Lady Lions opened the day with a sweep over Brenau University (0-5) (25-16, 25-17, 25-21). Emma Self was a force offensively with 29 assists. Claire Walker had 14 kills, and Freshman Kacey Donegan added 13 kills and 11 digs, completing her second double-double of the season. Junior Reilly Fulton had 25 digs defensively for the Lady Lions.
In game two, the Lady Lions handed Southeastern University (4-1) its first loss of the year in four sets (25-18, 23-25, 25-19, 25-20). Walker led the way offensively with 22 kills, and Donegan had 17 of her own. Self had another 50-assist performance with 51, and she added 14 digs to complete her second double-double of the year. Fulton was again outstanding, as she had 42 digs on the defensive end. Allie Humphry came in to add nine assists in the win.
With Friday's wins the Lady Lions improve to 4-0 on the season. They will continue play in the Life University Tournament on Saturday at 8 a.m. with a re-match of Tuesday night's victory over Fisk University. The team will play again at noon against future Mid-South opponent Life University.
