Lady Lions split on day two in Georgia

MARIETTA, Ga. – The Lady Lions volleyball team (5-1) competed in day two of the Running Eagle Classic at Life University, splitting its two matches with a loss against Life (6-2), and a second win over Fisk (1-7) in five sets.

The Lady Lions started the day with their first loss of the season at the hands of future Mid-South Conference foe Life University. The Lady Lions struggled as the Running Eagles got the win in 4 sets (18-25, 14-25, 25-23,13-25). Despite the loss, Kacey Donegan had a strong performance with 18 kills, and Claire Walker had 11. Emma Self was a threat with 32 assists. Reilly Fulton had 16 digs, and Emma Campbell added 16 digs as well for Lady Lions.

In game two, the Lady Lions met up with Fisk University again after Tuesday night's five set match. Saturday's match was no different with the storyline almost identical to Tuesday's, as the Lady Lions were able to take down the Bulldogs in five sets (25-22, 22-25, 22-25, 27-25,15-12).

Donegan starred in the afternoon win with a double-double, posting 19 kills and 20 digs. Walker matched Donegan with 19 kills, and Freshman Ivey Robinson stepped up with 10 of her own. Self posted her third 50-assist performance for the Lady Lions, and Fulton led the Lady Lions defensively with 34 digs, along with Campbel, who had 19 digs of her own.

The Lady Lions will be back in action September 6-7 at the Fisk University tournament in Nashville
