BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The Lady Lions volleyball team (8-5) took down Blue Mountain College (3-7) in straight sets on Thursday night.

I was all Lady Lions in the first set as they took care of the Toppers 25-17 without much issue. The second set was a much different story, but the visitors were able to take care of the hosts in a 27-25 win.

The Lady Lions jumped out to a quick 9-3 lead in the third set, but Blue Mountain was able to battle back and even take control of the set for a few brief moments. The visitors were able to grind out to a 25-22 set win, though, behind the strong play by Claire Walker, who finished the contest with a game-high 16 kills.

Walker was followed by the AMC kills leader Kacey Donegan, who had 10 kills in the game. Emma Self was strong in the contest with 24 assists, and Reilly Fulton finished with a game-high 23 digs on the defensive end.

The Lady Lions will travel to Williams Baptist for their first AMC contest of the season on Saturday. The game is set for 1 p.m.
