Lady Lions sweep first AMC matchup

Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Freed-Hardeman University volleyball team (9-5, 1-0 AMC) defeated Williams Baptist (2-11,0-1 AMC) in straight sets to open up conference play on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Lions stretched their winning streak to three games winning in straight sets (25-23, 25-17, 25-19) for the second straight game. Claire Walker led the way offensively with 14 kills, and Kacey Donnegan led the way defensively with 13 digs. Reilly Fulton also had a good day defensively with 10 digs. The Lady Lions capitalized off of 22 errors by Williams Baptist en route to the victory. Emma Self added 35 assists to her season tally.

They will continue their road trip September 27 and 28 as they go to St.Louis, Missouri, to face conference foes Harris-Stowe State and top-ranked Missouri Baptist. The matchup against Harris-Stowe is set to start at 6 p.m., with the game against the Spartans to start at 1 p.m.
