ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Lady Lions (10-6, 2-1 AMC) dropped their first conference match at the hands to top-ranked Missouri Baptist (17-3, 3-0 AMC) on Saturday, falling 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-20).

The Spartans got up by as many as six early on in the first half, but the Lady Lions were able to battle back to a 12-10 deficit. But it was all Missouri Baptist from there, outscoring the visitors 13-5 the rest of the set.

The second and third sets were close the whole way, but the Lady Lions couldn't catch a break against the top team in the country, who won their 17th straight match with today's victory.

Kacey Donegan led the way offensively for the Lady Lions with eight kills, and Emma Self added 17 assists.

The Lady Lions will be back in action on Tuesday when they take on future Mid-South Conference foe Martin Methodist at home. The game is set for 7 p.m.
