Taylor Hodges, Sports Information Director

PARKVILLE, Mo. – The Lions (11-6, 8-4 AMC) battled back in the second half but fell short 69-66 to Park University (15-3, 10-3 AMC) on Saturday afternoon.

It was a tough first half for the Lions, who struggled hit shots from deep, going 2-13 in the opening 20 minutes. They were able to shoot 41 percent from the field compared to 40 percent by the Pirates, but 3-point shooting and total shots taken favored Park en route to a 45-31 halftime lead.

The second half, though, was all FHU behind the stellar shooting by Konstantin Dotsenko. The freshman was lights out in the second half, knocking down four of his five deep balls in the period to finish with a game-high 22 points.

The Lions battled back to a tie game late in the contest, but Park was able to knock down some key shots, while the Lions struggled to do so, and the Pirates were able to hold off to win the AMC Game of the Week by the slim margin.

Kortland Martin came alive in the second half, scoring 10 of his 14 points in the period. Anthony Yarbrough rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points.

The Lions will be back at home on Saturday when they take on St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
