Lady Lions drop second straight to open MSC season

LEBANON, Tenn. – The Lady Lions (5-2, 0-2 MSC) dropped their first road Mid-South Conference game, losing 68-61 to Cumberland (1-0, 1-0 MSC) on Saturday afternoon.

The Phoenix got off to a very hot start, going up 12-0 to start the game and forcing five Lady Lions turnovers in the first five minutes. FHU would claw their way back, though, towards the end of the quarter, going on a 12-2 run to close out the period.

The second quarter would go back and forth, seeing eight lead changes and three ties. KJ White got her day going in the period, scoring six of her 17 points and assisting on two baskets, and the game would head to halftime tied at 33.

Cumberland would re-gain the lead to start the second half and never look back, leading by as many as 14 points en route to the win.

White led the Lady Lions in scoring with her 17 points alongside five assists. Caroline Chambers and Alyssa LeMay each finished with 12 points, and LeMay completed the double-double with 11 rebounds.

The Lady Lions will be off until December 3 when they go on the road to take on Georgetown College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
