HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Freed-Hardeman University men's basketball team (1-0) defeated Blue Mountain College (1-1) 104-64 in an offensive and defensive clinic on Saturday.
To start the game, the Lions were firing on all cylinders, building a quick 16-6 lead. The Lions defense was key in the early lead, as steals would lead to easy offense in the contest.
The Toppers would go on a small run and get stops to cut the Lions lead to six, but FHU would withstand the Toppers run and expand their lead to as many as 30. They would end up taking a 25-point lead into the break.
In the second half, the Lions kept the pressure on both ends, as their lead would continue to grow. The Toppers wouldn't get within 21 points in the final 20 minutes, and a number of scoring outbursts by the Lions would stretch the lead to as many as 42.
Jon Moore scored 15 points in his Lions debut off the bench, and John Musselwhite would match him while also pulling down eight rebounds.
Wanya King had 14 points in his FHU debut, Silas Clark had 11 points and Jeremiah Alexander had 10 points in his FHU debut to round out the double-figure scorers.
The Lions will be back in action on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. vs. Crowley's Ridge College in the Christian College Classic at hosted by Faulkner University.
