HENDERSON, Tenn.– The Freed-Hardeman University men's basketball team (12-6, 9-4 AMC) defeated St.Louis College of Pharmacy (4-16, 2-12) 87-75 on Saturday.
To start the game, the two teams came out firing and trading baskets. The score was tied at 11 early in the first half before the Lions would go on a 10-0 run to gain separation. The Lions led by as many as 16 in the opening period, but the Eutectics were not phased, answering every Lions run. The Lions would go into halftime with a nine-point lead at 43-34.
In the second half, the Eutectics would go on a 5-0 run before the Lions would stretch the lead back to 10. Again, the Eutectics showed their relentlessness as they would continue to score to keep the game close. Midway through the second half, the Lions stretched the lead to 15 before the Eutectics' Will Feese would hit consecutive three's and cut the lead to six. One more scoring run from the Lions and late-game free throws down the stretch would ultimately seal the win.
The Lions were led in scoring by Bryan Battle, who notched a double-double performance with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
Anthony Yarbrough had 19 points and six rebounds, and Konstantin Dotsenko finished with 18 points and five rebounds.
The Lions will be back in action on Thursday against Hannibal-LaGrange as they open a two game road-trip. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
