Lady Lions fall to No. 9 Shawnee State

Box Score

HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lady Lions (7-10, 1-9 MSC) fell 77-75 on a last-second shot to No. 9 Shawnee State (12-3, 6-3 MSC) on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Lions came out of the gate hot, taking complete control of the game for the majority of the contest. Alyssa LeMay scored 11 of her team-high 21 points in the first quarter.

FHU led by as many as 18 points in the game, but tough defense by the Bears and an offensive clinic by Anyia Pride and Brandie Snow brought Shawnee State back, cutting it to single digits in the final period.

Shawnee State outscored the Lady Lions 25-13 in the final period, including a last-second basket off of an offensive rebound by Carson Roney to give the visitors a two-point lead with just over one second remaining in the game. The Lady Lions utilized their last timeout in order to advance the ball into the front court, but Shawnee State sniffed out their play and got a steal to end the game.

KJ White followed LeMay's 21 points with 15 of her own. Alli Crumper scored 13 points in the contest, and Caroline Chambers rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points.

The Lady Lions will take on Martin Methodist at home on Monday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
