HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Freed-Hardeman University men's basketball team (10-5, 5-4 MSC) defeated Campbellsville (6-9, 4-8 MSC) on Thursday night 78-71 to complete the regular season sweep.
To start the game, the Lions got off to a fast start, quickly building an 18-10 lead. Halfway through the half, the team had a 27-21 lead before the Tigers would go on a 10-0 run to take a four-point lead. The Tigers would continue their run to halftime, leading by eight points at the half.
To start the second half, both teams got off to slow starts until the Lions would use a 12-0 run to take a four point lead. The Tigers would respond and tie the game midway through the half, but the Lions would use another run and lead by as many as 10 points late in regulation. The Tigers had one more offensive spurt to cut the lead to four points before the Lions would put the game away at the free-throw line.
The Lions were led in scoring by Kortland Martin, who had a game-high 23 points.
Wanya King came alive in the second half for 14 points, along with Logan Bonds,who had 10 points. John Musselwhite finished the contest with 12 rebounds and nine points.
The Lions will be back in action on Saturday when they host the defending NAIA champions No. 4 Georgetown College. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. at the Brewer Sports Center.
