HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Freed-Hardeman University women's basketball team (10-10, 4-9 MSC) defeated Georgetown College (3-7, 2-6 MSC) 60-47 on Thursday night to extend their winning streak to three games.
The Lady Lions would get off to a fast start, as the team held a 15-8 lead going into the second quarter. The team's superb play would continue into the second quarter when they outscored Georgetown 22-9 in the quarter to take a 37-17 lead heading into the halftime break. The team shot 62 percent from beyond-the-arc and 51 percent from the field in the first half.
To start the third quarter, Georgetown would start to get hot from the field, flipping the script on the Lady Lions from the second quarter to win the quarter 24-9 and cut the Lady Lions lead to five points at 46-41heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Tigers would cut the lead to three before the Lady Lions would find their rhythm and use a 9-2 run to go up 10 points at 55-45 midway through the quarter. The team would keep their foot on the gas for the remainder of the game as key scores down the stretch by Alyssa LeMay and KJ White would put the game out of reach.
The Lady Lions were led in scoring by LeMay, who had 19 points and six rebounds. Caroline Chambers had 15 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double performance.
The team will be back in action on Saturday for the second of two meetings against No. 1 Campbellsville University. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. at the Brewer Sports Center.
