Lady Lions fall late to Patriots

Box Score

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Lady Lions (7-7, 1-6 MSC) fell short 78-67 in a hard-fought road contest against the University of the Cumberlands (10-2, 6-2 MSC) on Saturday afternoon.

The game was a tight one from the start, and the Lady Lions were able to outplay the Patriots in many aspects of the contest. The outshot Cumberlands from the field (48 percent to 46 percent) and defended well, despite the Patriots making tough shots throughout the game, especially from behind the arc.

Cumberlands did out-rebound the Lady Lions, though, 26-20, with 13 of their total rebounds coming off the offensive glass, which led to second-chance points.

Alyssa LeMay led all scorers with 24 points in the contest. Hannah Hughes had another strong outing with 15 points and seven rebounds, and Caroline Chambers finished the game with 13 points.

The Lady Lions will travel to Campbellsville University on Monday for a make-up game that was postponed earlier in the year. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. central time.
