Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lady Lions volleyball team (7-14, 1-10 MSC) fell in straight sets (14-25, 19-25, 20-25) to No. 12 Life University (24-1, 10-0 MSC) in its return home on Saturday following a five-game road trip.
The Running Eagles jumped out to hot starts in both the first and second sets, leading by as many as 11 in the opening set and 10 in the second set.
After trailing 8-6 in the third set, the Lady Lions caught a little steam, going on a 7-2 run to take a 13-10 lead in an attempt to keep the match alive for a fourth set. But Life was able to bounce back, closing the game out on a 15-7 run to earn the sweep.
Claire Walker and Kacey Donegan both finished with nine kills, followed by Ashlynne Clifft with seven.
Donegan led the way defensively with 14 digs, and Allie Humphry finished the contest with 25 assists and nine digs.
The Lady Lions will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Tennessee Southern. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
