HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lady Lions volleyball team (7-16, 1-12 MSC) fell to Bethel University (8-11, 2-10 MSC) in straight sets (17-25, 11-25, 20-25) on Thursday night.

The Wildcats got out to a hot start in both the first and second sets, even leading 6-0 to start the second set. Huge defense from Bethel prevented the Lady Lions from getting things going in order to attempt a comeback, and the Wildcats were able to quickly take a 2-0 set lead.

In the third set, Bethel led by as many as eight midway through the set, but FHU was able to fight back, going on a 4-0 run to make it a 17-13 deficit, followed by a 6-3 run to make it 21-19.

After getting the next two points to make it 23-19, followed by the Lady Lions getting a kill from Ann Elise Jackson to make it 23-20, the Wildcats were able to hold off the rally and get the next two points and earn the sweep.

Emma Campbell led the way defensively for the Lady Lions with 12 digs, and Jackson finished the contest with three blocks.

Allie Humphry had 19 assists and seven digs, and Kacey Donegan filled the stat sheet with nine kills, six digs and three service aces.

The Lady Lions will take on former American Midwest Conference foe Central Baptist at home on Saturday. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
