HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lady Lions basketball team (5-1, 1-1 MSC) dropped their first game of the season, falling to No. 14 Lindsey Wilson (4-1, 1-1 MSC) 66-52 on Saturday afternoon.
Lindsey Wilson was able to score first points, but the Lady Lions responded by going on a 12-2 run, giving them an early lead. FHU was able to maintain the lead for the rest of the quarter, allowing the team to go into second quarter with an advantage.
The second quarter started with both teams trading buckets. Lindsey Wilson was able to connect couple of shots, cutting the gap as close as three points with 3:50 to go. In their offensive efforts, the Lady Lions were well-balanced, as six out of eight players scored, letting FHU go into the break with a five-point lead. Alyssa LeMay and Kaylee Odom led the team in the first half, both scoring eight points.
Junior guard Kinlee Varnell opened the second half for the Lady Lions, making two free throws, but the Blue Raiders went on a 19-4 run to take a 10-point lead.
In the fourth quarter, FHU struggled to score, scoring only 11 points in the period as Lindsey Wilson continued to grow the lead, securing the road win.
LeMay recorded her fourth straight double-double, leading FHU with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Caroline Chambers and Odom both followed with 10 points.
The Lady Lions will look for a bounce-back win next Saturday when they host Brescia University. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
