Box Score KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Lions basketball team (6-2, 2-0 MSC) defeated Indiana East (4-6) 90-78 on Sunday, closing out The Show with a perfect 2-0 record.
It was a tight-knit first half to start, and the Lions trailed late in the period until a 3-point shot from Kortland Martin sparked an 11-5 run to close out the half and give the Lions a 46-41 lead at the break.
The Lions dominated the second half, extending their lead to 10 with just under 16 minutes to go in the contest. Indiana East was able to get to within six points with just over 11 minutes remaining, but the Lions didn't waiver, going on a 5-0 run after a timeout to regain their double-digit lead, which they would hold on to for the remainder of the game.
Martin led all scorers with 21 points in the contest, along with four assists.
Ryley McClaran had a huge game off the bench, scoring 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field. Geraldo Lane had 14 points in the game, followed by Hunter Scurlock with 12. Jon Moore went 4-for-4 from the field off the bench, finishing with 10 points.
The Lions will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Campbellsville for a Mid-South Conference matchup. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST.
