Box Score Henderson, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion basketball team rode hot 3-point shooting from veterans Kortland Martin and Wanya King Thursday evening, as they soared to a 98-81 victory over Life University at the Brewer Sports Center. Martin and King combined for 41 of FHU's 98 points, which included 11 three-point field goals.
The Lions (10-3, 5-1 MSC) started the game slow, trailing 10-0 in the early going; however, they clawed their way back and out-scored the Running Eagles (3-7, 0-5 MSC) the rest of the half to hold a slight margin at the 34-33 mark entering the break. King paced the Lions in the first half, shooting an impressive 3 for 4 from behind the arc.
FHU nearly doubled their first half scoring output in the second half, as they put up 64 points in the final frame. The Lions finished the game on a 25-14 run from the 6:44 mark to the final buzzer. It was a great shooting night across the board, as the Lions shot 57 percent from the field and a blistering 56 percent from behind the arc on their way to a 98-81 victory.
Kortland Martin led the Lions on the offensive front with 21 points, shooting 5 for 8 from behind the arc. King followed close behind with 20 points of his own, shooting an impressive 6 for 8 clip from three-point range. Freshman Jon Moore also had an efficient night for the Lions, as he shot 6 for 8 from the field and finished the night with 16 points.
With the win, the Lions move to 10-3 overall and 5-1 in Mid-South Conference play. The Running Eagles drop to 3-7 on the season and 0-5 in Mid-South Conference play with the loss.
