Lady Lions drop two matches in Arkansas

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lady Lions volleyball team (10-3) dropped both of their matchups in Arkansas, falling 3-2 to Philander Smith (2-1) and 3-1 to Lyon College (2-2) on Tuesday night to open up its spring season.

After winning the first two sets 26-24 and 25-20, Philander Smith came back to win the next three sets and the match, including a 27-25 win in the fourth set.

The Lady Lions attempted a comeback against the Scots in the second match after falling short in the first two sets. They were able to take the third set comfortably, 25-16, but Lyon was able to regain control in the fourth set to win the match.

Emma Self combined for 50 assists in the two matches, and added 13 digs in the match against Lyon for the double-double. Allie Humphry recorded 19 assists in the match against Philander Smith and 16 against Lyon, with nine digs in both games.

Kacey Donegan had 18 kills and 10 digs against Lyon, with 25 kills and 11 digs versus Philander Smith. Claire Walker combined for 20 kills in the two games.

Reilly Fulton added 15 digs in both games.

The Lady Lions will be back in action on Thursday at home when they open up Mid-South Conference play against Life University. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
