Fulton sets all-time digs record in win over Redhawks

HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lady Lions volleyball team (14-10, 3-6 MSC) knocked off Martin Methodist (11-5, 6-4 MSC) 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-23, 25-17) in the rematch on Saturday afternoon.

Senior libero Reilly Fulton finished the contest with 28 digs in the contest, but she only needed 18 to become the Lady Lions all-time leader in the statistic, passing Karina Souza with 1,870. After the contest, Fulton currently has 1,880 career digs.

After splitting the first two sets, the Lady Lions had to overcome some adversity when Martin Methodist a 15-7 lead to go up 20-18. But the Lady Lions would go on to get six of the next nine points to take a 2-1 lead.

In set four, the Redhawks came out hot, going up 8-1. But FHU fought back, going on an 18-8 run to take a 19-16 lead and would finish them off on a 6-2 run to get the win.

Kacey Donegan led the way offensively with 17 kills, followed by Claire Walker with 11. Ann Elise Jackson had an efficient afternoon with eight kills at a 42.9 percent clip.

Emma Self finished with a double-double, recording 29 assists and 10 digs, and Allie Humphry finished the contest with 18 assists.

The Lady Lions will be back in action on Monday when they travel to the University of Pikeville to begin a four-game road trip. Game time is set for 5 p.m. central time.
