Lady Lions knock off Tigers to kick off road trip

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Lady Lions (12-6, 1-2 MSC) started their three-game road trip with a 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19) win over Campbellsville (6-4, 1-2 MSC) on Thursday night.

FHU trailed mid-way through the first set, but they went on a 6-2 run to take a 16-14 lead and never trailed after to go up 1-0. In the second set, they controlled it from the start, leading by as many as seven points. The Tigers made a run late, but it was too little, too late and the Lady Lions went up 2-0.

Campbellsville was able to take the third set to keep the match alive, but a strong fourth set gave the Lady Lions the win in the first game of their road trip.

The Lady Lions were led offensively by Kacey Donegan, who had 18 kills to lead all players. She was closely followed by Claire Walker who finished with 15 kills on a .317 attack percentage, and Ann Elise Jackson who had 10 kills at a .353 clip.

Reilly Fulton was a staple defensively, recording 29 digs in the win. Emma Self finished with 29 assists, and Allie Humphry had 19.

The Lady Lions will continue their road trip on Saturday when they face off against Georgetown College. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
