Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lady Lions volleyball team (4-4, 1-1 MSC) fell 3-0 (15-25, 18-25, 21-25) to the University of the Cumberlands (8-3, 1-0 MSC) on Saturday in its second Mid-South Conference matchup of the season.
The first set was a tight one, never getting outside of a three-point reach for the Lady Lions, until the Patriots went on a 9-2 run to take a 22-12 lead before taking the set.
In the second set, Cumberlands led by as many as eight points at 20-12, but the Lady Lions made a surge, cutting it to within six, but the Patriots were able to hold off the comeback to take the set by seven.
In the final set, it was back and forth until the Patriots went up 20-14. The Lady Lions got the next three points to cut the lead to three, but Cumberlands wouldn't let them within that, taking the final set and earning the sweep.
Kacey Donegan led the Lady Lions in kills with eight, followed by seven from Ann Elise Jackson and six from Jayden Watkins.
Allie Humphry recorded the double-double with 26 assists and 12 digs, and Emma Campbell finished the contest with 19 digs. Katie Speaks had a strong day defensively with 10 digs.
The Lady Lions will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Cumberland University at 7 p.m.
