Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. – The Lady Lions volleyball team (5-7, 1-4 MSC) fell in straight sets (18-25, 11-25, 15-25) on Tuesday to UT Southern (11-5, 2-3 MSC).
The Lady Lions held an early 4-2 lead in the first set after kills by Kacey Donegan and Ashlynne Clifft, but the Firehawks went on a 4-1 run to take a 6-5 lead. Strong offense from Southern from there would take over, leading to a 1-0 set lead.
It was all Southern in the second set, leading by as many as 16, on their way to a 14-point set win, followed by another quick start in the third set on their way to the sweep.
Donegan led the way with nine kills, followed by Claire Walker with seven.
Allie Humphry finished the contest with 16 assists and eight digs, and Emma Campbell came away with 11 digs. Ann Elise Jackson had two blocks.
The Lady Lions will conclude their three-game road trip on Friday with a Mid-South Conference matchup against Bethel. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
