Box Score MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Lady Lions volleyball team (5-8, 1-5 MSC) fell in straight sets (21-25, 23-25, 23-25) to Bethel (7-3, 1-2 MSC) on Friday night to close out its three-game road trip.
All three sets were tight, with neither team able to find a way to pull away from the other.
In the first set, the Lady Lions held a 12-8 lead before the Wildcats jumped out to a 7-0 run to go up 15-12. FHU was able to go on a 5-0 run soon after to re-take the lead by two, followed by another 5-0 run by Bethel to go up 21-18.
The Lady Lions were able to crawl their way back to make it 23-21, but Bethel held on to take a 1-0 set lead.
The Wildcats jumped out to a quick start in the second set to go up 6-1, but they were able to fight their way back to take a 17-13 lead, and led 20-18 late, despite a 5-3 run by Bethel.
The Wildcats scored the next four points to take a 22-20 lead, but with the game tied 23-23, Bethel scored the final two points to go up 2-0.
The Lady Lions led for nearly the entire third set, and even led 21-15 late, but Bethel went on a huge 10-2 run to take the third set and earn the sweep.
Kacey Donegan had double-digit kills on the night with 11 to go along with seven digs. Ann Elise Jackson followed with six kills and five blocks.
Allie Humphry finished with 24 assists. 
The Lady Lions return home on Saturday for a matchup with former American Midwest Conference foe Williams Baptist. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
