Lady Lions Cruise to 84-57 Victory Over Shawnee State

Box Score

HENDERSON, Tenn. - In rather dominant fashion, the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion basketball team defeated the Shawnee State Bears Thursday night at Brewer Sports Center. Large margins of victory have been something of a recurring theme this season for the Lady Lions (12-3, 5-3 MSC) winning 11 of their 12 games by double digits, and Thursday night was no different.

The Lady Lions got off to a hot start early in the first quarter, leading by 20 points by the end of the first period and never allowed Shawnee State (3-8, 2-4 MSC) to find their rhythm in the game. By the end of the first half, the Lady Lions led 45-19 entering the break.

FHU continued to control the game into the second half, which led to a dominant 84-57 victory on their home court. The Lady Lions won every stat category, recording 45 total rebounds, 20 assists and shooting an impressive 65 percent from the field, and 55 percent from behind the arc.

The Lady Lions had six players reach double figures in the match-up. Senior Alyssa LeMay led the charge for the Lady Lions, as she had 17 points, nine rebounds, and three assists while shooting 6-for-11 from the field in the victory.

UP NEXT: Freed-Hardeman moves to 12-3 on the season, and will continue their conference schedule Saturday, January 15th, as they host the top-ranked Thomas More for a 12:00 PM tip at the Brewer Sports Center.
