Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn– In a game that featured eight lead changes, the Freed-Hardeman Lions men's basketball team defeated the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders 65-59 Thursday night in Columbia.
Despite dominating most of the first half, the Lions (12-8, 7-6 MSC) got off to a bit of a slow start, facing a 17-8 deficit at the under 12 media timeout. The Lions went on a 29-14 run over the final 10 minutes of the half, leading Lindsey Wilson (8-12, 1-11 MSC) 37-31 at the half.
In the second half, the Lions kept a consistent lead, forcing Lindsey Wilson into a more half-court, slower-paced game, leading to fewer shots and fewer field goals. Freed-Hardeman led by as many as 12 in the second half, but the Blue Raiders cut that lead to three at the two minute mark. But, as a result of good free throw shooting down the stretch, the Lions were able to come away with a crucial road conference win, 65-59.
Kortland Martin led the way again, despite only shooting 40% from the field, with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Geraldo Lane also added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals in 27 minutes.
