Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion basketball team collected a wire-to-wire 68-51 victory Monday evening against in-state conference foe Bethel University at the Brewer Sports Center.
The Lady Lions (11-3, 4-3 MSC) dominated on the defensive side of the ball in the first quarter, allowing just one field goal the entire frame. FHU began the game on a 14-0 run before a fast-break layup broke the shutout with 1:34 left in the first quarter. The opening quarter ended with the Lady Lions leading 18-4.
FHU maintained a comfortable lead throughout the second quarter, as they held a 35-26 advantage entering the break. Senior leader Alyssa Lemay led the offensive charge in the first half fwith 13 points
The Lady Lions continued their defensive dominance in the second half, as they held the Wildcats (8-6, 2-4 MSC) to just 25 points and 33 percent shooting for the game. The Lady Lions held a comfortable lead throughout the half with the Wildcats not getting any closer than eight points for the remainder of the game.
Seniors Chynia Brooks and Lemay led the way for the Lady Lions, as each put up 18 points in the victory and combined for 36 of FHU's 68 points. Lemay also added 6 rebounds and 3 blocks to aid FHU in shutting down the Wildcat attack. Reagen Floyd also reached double digits in the match-up, as she ended the night with 11 points and three assists. FHU shot an impressive 48 percent from the floor in the convincing 68-51 victory.
