Box Score Crestview Hills, KY – The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions traveled to Kentucky on Thursday evening to take on the number two team in the nation, Thomas-More. The Lady Lions were able to collect their most impressive win of the season behind a stifling defense by a final score of 54-47.
The Lady Lions carried the intensity on the defensive side of the floor from the opening tip. Alyssa LeMay forced a turnover on the first possession of the game, it was the first of 16 turnovers forced by the Lady Lions. Senior guard Reagan Floyd shot the ball well in the first half connecting on 2 of her 3 three-point attempts for 6 points. Kaylee Odom matched her with 6 points of her own in the first half to pace the Lady Lion offense as they headed to the locker room down 25-24.
The 3rd quarter was another struggle for both teams on the offensive side of the ball. The Lady Lions were only able to score 9 points in the frame and shot only 23.5 percent from the floor. They were able to stay in the game on the defensive side of the floor by only allowing Thomas More to score 12 points, the Lady Lions went into the 4th down 37-33.
The 4th quarter was dominated by the Lady Lions on both ends of the floor. FHU exploded for 21 points in the frame almost matching their entire first half output. Alyssa LeMay hit a deep 3 from the wing with 6:20 remaining in the game to tie it at 41 all. The Lady Lions would lead the rest of the game after a pair of Reagen Floyd free throws on the ensuing possession. Freed-Hardeman outscore the Thomas-More Saints 21-10 in the 4th quarter in route to a 54-47 road victory.
Reagen Floyd led the way for the Lady Lions on Thursday night with 14 points and shot 4-5 from behind the 3-point line. Floyd also added 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Kaylee Odom had a big game off the bench with 12 points on 6-8 shooting from the floor. The Lady Lions had 13 steals as a team.
