Lady Lions Fall at Cumberlands

Box Score

Williamsburg, KY– In what was the first meeting between these two conference rivals, the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions lost 71-55 to the Cumberlands Patriots Monday night in Williamsburg.

Despite trailing by 1 at the half, the Lady Lions (18-10,10-10 MSC) led for the majority of the opening 20 minutes. Both teams came out shooting on the better end of 50% from the field, 40% from three, and were able to create turnovers and get out in transition, leading to double-digit points off turnovers.

The Patriots (18-10, 12-8 MSC) were able to carry that momentum into the second half, outscoring the Lady Lions 43-28 over the final two quarters. The Patriots outpaced the Lady Lions in both the second half shooting stats and the rebounding battle, leading them to a 71-55 win.

Despite the loss, the Lady Lions got a stellar performance from Caroline Chambers with 21 points on 10-16 shooting, six rebounds and a block. They also got solid outings from Alyssa LeMay and Reagan Floyd with 10 points each.

Up Next: After a tough loss on the road, the Lady Lions will return home to face the Pikeville Lady Bears Thursday night at 6PM at Brewer Sports Center.
