Lady Lions Suffer Quarter Final Exit in the MSC Tournament

Box Score

Bowling Green, Ky– After a huge first round win at home against Cumberland, the Freed-Hardeman women's basketball team exited the MSC Tournament with a 69-58 loss to the Campbellsville Tigers Friday night at the Studle Financial Arena.

The Lady Lions (20-12, 11-11 MSC) got off to a hot start early in the first quarter, creating a 16-7 lead just seven minutes into the game. The Tigers (27-4, 18-4 MSC) were able to respond with a lead of their own, going on a 10-0 run to close out the quarter. The second quarter was more of a back-and-forth affair, with each team producing 15 points. Behind a solid effort from the field and from the free-throw line, the Tigers were able to take a 32-31 lead into halftime.

Despite making more shots than the Tigers in the second half, the Lady Lions were outscored by 10 over the final 20 minutes. The Lady Lions were able to create 14 turnovers and get out in transition, leading to 20 points off turnovers. In the end, Campbellsville proved to be too much for the Lady Lions, as they came away with the 69-58 win to advance to the semifinal of the MSC Tournament.

Despite the tough loss, the Lady Lions had three in double figures with Alyssa LeMay leading the way with 15 points, seven rebounds, one assist and a steal. Reagan Floyd and KJ White also finished with 13 and 11 points respectively.

Up Next: Without an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament, the Lady Lions will now await the committee's reveal of the official bracket, with the tournament starting on March 17th.
