Box Score Bowling Green, Ky– After a huge home win against the Bethel Wildcats during the week, the Freed-Hardeman Lions men's basketball team suffered a tough 81-64 loss to the Georgetown Tigers Saturday night in the quarter final of the MSC Tournament at Studle Financial Arena.
For the first 10-15 minutes of the 1st half, both teams were trading buckets at the offensive end, producing points both in the paint and from behind the arc. Jeremiah Alexander came up big late in the half with two three-pointers to keep the Lions (19-12, 13-9 MSC) in the game. During the final three minutes, Georgetown (23-7, 15-7 MSC) was able to close out the half on a 8-2 run, leading 38-33 at the half.
In the second half, Georgetown was able to get into a rhythm and never really let the Lions find their way into the game. The Lions were outscored 43-31 during the final 20 minutes, leading to a 81-64 loss.
As a team, the Lions shot 39% from the field, 25% from three. They were -8 on the boards, but were +6 in points in the paint, +5 in points off turnovers and had 20 bench points.
Kortland Martin had another solid performance with 14 points and three assists in 38 minutes of work. Geraldo Lane and Hunter Scurlock each got into double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively. The Lions also got a big game from Jeremiah Alexander with nine points, 10 rebounds, three assists and a steal off the bench.
Up Next: After a disappointing loss in the quarter final of the MSC Tournament, the Lions will now await the results of the selection committee of the NAIA National Tournament.
