MARIETTA, GA — The Freed-Hardeman University Lions (15-9, 10-7)  took on the Life University Running Eagles (6-16, 3-14) on the road in Georgia. They were met with several challenges in this game, but both teams were able to fill up the basket in an exciting back and forth game.

The Running Eagles jumped out to an early 8-0 lead over the Lions until Coach Drew Stutts called a timeout to try to halt some of the opposing momentum. This worked to some degree as the Lions were able to grab a few baskets, but the persistence of Life was heavy on the shoulders of the FHU team. They maintained their lead well into the midway point of the half. 

Then the shots began to fall for the Lions as they were able to collect some points, shrinking the lead down, and eventually tying the contest with a Geraldo Lane layup with roughly four minutes remaining in the first half. 

A brief lead was taken by the Lions by way of a Wanya King three point shot with one minute remaining in the half, to go ahead 38-35. This game that did not look bright for the Lions early on, quickly shaped into to a tie ball game at the half.

The second half was neck-and-neck for its majority. The largest lead of the half was held by the Lions at eight points over the Running Eagles, but due to a great 13 point half and two, "icing on the cake," free throws from Kortland Martin, the Lions were able to win the game by a total of three points. 

The physical battle between the two conference sides featured Kortland Martin, Geraldo Lane, and Wanya King who all collected 17 points each. Wanya King also shot an outstanding 4-7 from behind the arc in the contest, had six rebounds, and five assists.
